Grandmomma's 90th Birthday

This past weekend, we flew to Oklahoma City for Grandmomma's 90th birthday party. We were so glad that we were able to be there for her special day. Reed would ask me every day when we were flying to Grandmomma's house, so I made him a countdown with an airplane to mark each day.

Lala, Reed, & Daddy on the bus headed to the airport.

Chase riding on his first airport shuttle bus.

Reed was so excited. He couldn't wait to get on the plane.

Reed rode on our suitcase while walking into the airport.

Chase rode in his stroller.

All checked in and waiting to board.

Reed, Lala, & Chase boarding the airplane.

Chase on his first airplane ride.

Both boys did fantastic on the airplane ride. This was Reed's 3rd time to fly, and he absolutely loves it. He's a natural. Chase was an angel as well. He was busy exploring everything in sight and trying to steal his brother's sippy cup & sucker.

Reed let Chase have a few licks of his sucker, and Chase LOVED it!

Chase was so excited to see Grandmomma. He crawled right up to her and started to pull-up using her pants.

As soon as we got to Grandmomma's house, Reed said he wanted to go play outside. He loves her lake.

Daddy & Chase checking out the lake.

The lake water was extremely low. They had to lower the water in order to fix something, so Reed saw this as a perfect place to go exploring.

He put on his boots and headed straight for the water.

He never once tried to get into the water. He just liked throwing sticks and rocks into the water.

Reed & Lala looking for clams.

Reed couldn't wait to go fishing. He caught a fish in less than 5 minutes....all by himself. He said, "Mommy, there's a fish on here!" After he caught his first fish, he never picked up the pole again.

He was proud of his fish.

Lala pretending the fish was going to kiss Reed.

Daddy caught a couple of catfish too.

Chase showing off his two teeth.

While we were in OKC, Chase said his first word. According to Lala & Daddy, Chase was playing one morning, then looked up and said, "Daddy!" They said it was very clear that he said Daddy.

I have a picture very similar to this of Reed when he was 8 1/2 months old in Grandmomma's bath tub.

Uncle John brought Aunt Debbie's convertible to Grandmomma's house, so Daddy could have something to run around in. Daddy thought it would be fun to take Reed for a ride in the convertible.

Reed going for a ride in the convertible. They just went around her neighborhood.

To get Reed to go for a ride in the convertible with his Daddy, Chris told him that he had a surprise for him (The surprise was going for a ride in the convertible). Well, once they were in the car, Reed said, "Daddy, where's my surprise?"

So, after supper Friday night, Daddy & Reed went to the store and bought Paint by Numbers. Grandmomma enjoyed showing Reed how to paint.

This keyboard was a huge hit. Reed's favorite tune to play was "We wish you a Merry Christmas!"

Saturday, we went to Grandmomma's church for her 90th birthday party. The party was perfect!

Daddy playing with Chase. Check out those thighs!

The Family Life Center had a gym connected to it, so the kids had a big time playing basketball. Chase has become a pro at going from the crawling position to the sitting position and vice versa. He's so proud of himself.

Reed & Chase crawling across the gym floor.

Chase wanted to play basketball too.

Danielle & Reed rolling the ball back and forth.

Grandmomma asked for 100 yellow balloons to be released at her party. At the end of the party, everyone grabbed a balloon and headed outside.

When it was time to let go of the balloons, I wasn't quite sure if Reed would let his balloon go or not. He let it go without even a fuss and never asked for it back either. I was very proud of him.

Reed & his cousin, Caroline, became instant buddies. They had a big time playing with each other. (Click on the video at the bottom of this post to watch the balloons).

Chase pulling up using Lala's hands. All he ever wants to do is stand.

Play time with Lala.

After the birthday party, we headed to Brick Town to have dinner at Crab Town.

Chase, Mommy & Preston

Chase & Reed both did great on the flight back too. Chase loved playing with the airplane's window.

At one point, Chase became a little restless, so Lala handed him one of her cookies. Let's just say he was completely satisfied with that cookie. He ate the whole thing!

Below is a video of the balloons being released. I apologize for the filming job. I was holding Chase & trying to film at the same time.
