Pre-Halloween Activites

We prepared for Halloween the whole month of October. Reed was so excited about Halloween. He would comment every day on which houses were decorated for Halloween and which houses forgot.

We started off buying pumpkins and some decorations for our house. Since we put out pumpkins the first of October, we decided to use stickers to decorate them until it was time to carve them. We made a witch pumpkin and a pirate pumpkin.

Chase getting in the Halloween spirit.

Chase loves textures, so he was having fun feeling the pumpkins.
Chase laughing at his silly Daddy.

Of course, he was trying to put the stem in his mouth.

Reed helping cut some yarn for the witch's hair.

Our finished product:

Chase crawling after a balloon.

Chase opening his Halloween card from Grandmomma.

He loves to tear apart magazines, so he was excited when I handed him something that he could tear up without getting in trouble!

Showing me his card

And of course...eating his card!

Saturday afternoon, Didi, Nana, & Kellie came up, so we could celebrate Didi's birthday. She made a precious cake!

Laughing at the silly card.

Chase & Reed watching Didi open his birthday happy...Didi was quite entertaining.

Chase loves this ball. He probably plays with it just about every day.

Cake time!

Daddy had to grab Chase because he was trying his best to put his hand in the cake.

Watching Didi blow out his candles

Nana bought trick candles, so Reed got to help blow them out for the 2nd, 3rd, and I think 4th time.

Chase trying to get in on the action.
They wanted to see the boys in their costumes. Batman wasn't really feeling it that day.

Robin didn't seem to mind.

Mommy loving on Batman.

Batman & Robin with their fingers in their mouths...don't they look tough?

Chase is EVERYWHERE and into EVERYTHING all of the time. His favorite things to do at this moment: Play in the Potty (Gross, I know!) and Climb Upstairs!
So, Daddy fixed that problem this weekend with baby gates! Chase trying to figure out what happened to his escape route.
Saturday night, we carved our pumpkin. Reed helped the entire time, which surprised me.

He was dying to help Daddy cut the top off, so I gave him one of his knives. That didn't satisfy him though because he asked me 100 times if he could have a big knife like Daddy. No worries...we said "NO!"

Chase had to get in the action too!

Isn't he precious?

Taking a look inside...

Daddy didn't like pulling the insides out of the pumpkin, so Mommy took over.

Chase trying to figure out what we were doing.

Mommy trying to get Reed to try the pumpkin.

Working hard to get everything out

When the actual carving began, Chase decided to sit in his chair and supervise. In other words, he took our design, tore it to pieces, then attempted to eat it.

Reed telling Daddy where to cut.

Daddy teaching Reed how to use the utensils.
(Notice his tongue...)

Chase eating paper.

Reed still working hard on the pumpkin.

Pulling out a piece of the pumpkin.

Chase decided it was time to move on to better things. This is his favorite drawer. He loves to unpack everything in it. Thankfully, it's just tupperware.

Our finished product!
It's a bat!

This picture shows the design a little better. Reed made us keep the lights of for the rest of the night, so he could look at the pumpkin. Every once in a while, he'd take the top off, look inside and say "Come look at the lava!"

Stay tuned for Halloween pictures...
