EXPANDING VOCABULARY

Reed has learned a lot of new words this past week. So far, his vocabulary consists of the following words: Mom-ma, Da-da, Ball, Bubble, Bye Bye, Dog, Nana, Jack, Nani, Pop, Cookie, Bath, Down, Big Boy, I love you, and uh oh!

This weekend, he was sitting in a chair at the table. You could barely see his head, and his Daddy said, "Reed, you look like a big boy." Reed said "Big Boy!" We were so proud!

Last night, Daddy asked Reed if he loved his Momma, and he shook his head no, which broke my heart. Then, Daddy asked Reed if he loved Da-da, and Reed just sat there. Daddy then asked Reed if he could say I love you, and he said it so good and clear! We couldn't believe it!!!

Tonight, after Reed had finished eating, he got down out of his highchair and played in the kitchen while we finished eating. He noticed that he had dropped a bunch of corn on the kitchen floor. We looked down from the table, and Reed was picking up the corn off the floor and throwing it away in the trash can. Of course, we encouraged this behavior by clapping and cheering him on. So, he continued to pick up the corn that he had dropped and throw it away. He would clap for himself after each trip to the trash can!

Reed has adjusted to going back to his babysitter's house during the week. Maria has a slide inside that he LOVES! She said that he goes down the slide all day. She said that Reed and Tyler try to beat each other to the ladder to go back down the slide. Since Tyler is older, he usually beats Reed to the ladder. Well, Reed figured out very quickly that he couldn't beat Tyler. So, after Reed would go down the slide, he would run to a different toy. Of course, Tyler would follow him. As soon as Reed had Tyler distracted, he would run to the ladder on the slide and start climbing! He's so smart!

He plays so hard over there that by about 7:00 he begins to get very sleepy. He has been so worn out that he hasn't even wanted to take a bath. Tonight, after he got out of the bath, he ran butt naked to his bed and tried to crawl into his crib. He was ready to go to sleep!
